Armando and Marie-Josée, owners of Villa Armando, left the restaurant on Graham Boulevard. The rental contract that bound them with the Town of Mount Royal under the name L'Académie Culinaire Italienne was amended last September. In addition, the restaurant's Facebook site announces a permanent closure. According to comments received by Journal Station Mont-Royal, the new owners will reopen the restaurant in 4-5 months, once the renovations are complete. Will we keep the name of Villa Armando, still proudly displayed on the storefront?

The departure of the founders of Villa Armando questions the future of restaurants in Mount Royal in terms of quality and diversity and could create a void for the many loyal customers, who in some cases have become friends. Villa Armando had passed the difficult constraints linked to the pandemic with flying colors. Remember that in 1957, when Graham Boulevard was extended, the Town of Mount Royal won its case to save the building, which was 170 years old at the time, from possible demolition.
