It is under the sign of emotion that took place last Saturday, at Atholstan Park in Town of Mount Royal, the unveiling of the work in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the end of the Republic of Vietnam.
The monument, known as "le conte d’une vie" - a work by sculptor Jean-Pierre Busque - is a donation made to the Town of Mount Royal by the Viet Héritage Renaissance organization.
The sculpture symbolizes a thank you to Canada and Quebec for welcoming the Vietnamese refugees from the sea, but also a memory for those who perished at sea. It also reminds generations of Vietnamians of their origin and the sacrifice of their ancestors in the journey to freedom.
The event took place in the presence of Mayor Philippe Roy and city councilors, Member of the National Assembly Pierre Arcand, Federal Members of Parliament Anthony Housefather, Pablo Rodriguez and Alexandre Boulerice and many dignitaries from the Vietnamese community.
