The excellent series "The Crown" introduced us to some members of the royal family, one of whom, Edward VIII, will be making a short visit to Town of Mount Royal.
Here is what you can read in the beautiful book "The Royal Gift" by John Kalbfleisch.

“Mount Royal did not yet have its motto, Regium donum (it would not be adopted until 1944), but the citizens' attachment to the monarchy in those years was unwavering. The excitement is at its height when we learn that the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, will pass through the city on August 1, 1927. The prince is to be accompanied by his younger brother, Prince George (not to be confused with another brother, Prince Albert, who would later be King George VI). The two princes are due to come to Canada to take part in the celebrations surrounding the Diamond Jubilee of Confederation, but they would like to play a round of golf at the Laval-sur-le-lac club that day. Their itinerary is published in all the newspapers; as they had to cross Mont-Royal, the residents gathered well in advance to cheer them on. But not only do the princes swap the convertible planned for a covered taxi, but they take another route, more direct. (…) The prince’s car passed through a path west of Model City ”.
