According to REM press release
After demolition and reconstruction of the north deck of the Jean-Talon Bridge, the same work will be carried out on the south portion.
PHOTOS STATION MONT-ROYAL ARCHIVES Thus, the bridge will be completely closed from June 25, 11:00 p.m. to June 28, 5:00 a.m., between avenue De Dieppe and chemin Aberdare. There will also be a temporary closure of Wilderton Avenue between Bates Road and Jean-Talon O Street. After June 28, motorists operate in one lane in each direction on the northern portion of the bridge until December. Depending on the progress of the work, complete weekend closures may be necessary.
As a reminder, the Jean-Talon Bridge was an infrastructure deemed critical by the City of Montreal, due to its significant state of deterioration. To ensure its integrity for the next 100 years, the bridge will be completely demolished and rebuilt. The work for the complete reconstruction of the bridge was staggered over two years, due to the phasing allowing vehicle traffic to be ensured at all times with one lane open in each direction. Last summer, three mechanical excavators demolished the north bridge. The demolition of the southern portion of the bridge will take place this summer and the work will be completed this winter.
